1:1 Learning Environment

Teaching in a 1:1 learning environment opens up many doors for teachers and students alike. Beyond the obvious direct access to databases and multimedia tools, it transforms in a fundamental manner our pedagogy and fosters an environment where students can become more independent learners.
Creating such a learning environment can be a challenge, which is why I like to follow the SMAR model (Substitution Modification Augmentation Redefinition): first, offering simple ways for teachers to substitute and modify their current methods by using 1:1 devices in their classroom and everyday lesson plans (i.e. creating a coherent and reliable digital backpack) and then - more advanced - transforming their teaching method so that they are comfortable taking full advantage of the possibilities of the 1:1 environment (Blended Learning Environment and Flipped Classroom).
